In a world suffering from global warming and the sub-prime credit crunch, to some, Australia's homelessness may not seem like much of an issue. However, Australia's homelessness is a huge problem in our community. The homeless suffer immense hardship and loss of dignity, unfortunately, they recieve little public support or sympathy for their misfortune. Far too often, their plight is placed in the 'too hard basket'. However, with your generosity, the Salvos will make a huge difference to help the homeless. The Salvation Army OASIS Australia’s homeless youth are often invisible within the context of our prosperous community. But they do exist and increasing numbers. Each night while you are safe and warm in your home, literally thousands of Australian teenagers will be sleeping rough on the streets. Oasis is The Salvation Army's response to youth homelessness and disadvantage in Sydney. With more than 20 innovative, uplifting services, Oasis offers outreach, accommodation and specialist intervention to help highly disadvantaged young people to get back on their feet and begin turning their lives around.
