Each night while you are safe and warm in your bed, literally thousands of Australian teenagers will be on the streets.
On any given night 100,000 Australians are homeless. More than one third of homeless people are teenagers and young adults aged 12 to 24 – that’s at least 32,000 homeless young people!
About Oasis:
The Oasis Youth Support Network is The Salvation Army’s response to youth homelessness in Australia.
Oasis provides a place of safety and care where, through compassion and skilful intervention, troubled young people find the refuge and hope to achieve their dreams and potential.
Oasis, offers more than 20 uplifting and innovative programs and services, that give disadvantaged young people the help and opportunities to access relevant education, training, employment, counselling and drug/alcohol programs and turn their lives around.
Where does the money go?
This year all money raised through the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival will go towards funding more transitional housing for homeless young people who are ready to move out of crisis accommodation and into a more stable environment. These young people are ready to take the next positive steps towards getting their life back on track but often they have no where to go and can fall back into bad habits or get mixed up with the wrong crowd.
With you help, we will be able to create more safe accommodation to help more young people off the streets.
Celebrate with us:
This year Oasis will also host a marquee at the end of the course - so make sure you pop in, meet Captain Paul Moulds the Oasis team and celebrate your achievement with us!
Thank you, good luck and see you at the finish line...
