Charity Message
The Humour Foundation is a national charity founded in 1997 by performer Jean Paul Bell and General Practitioner Dr Peter Spitzer, it’s primary aim is to promote and deliver the health benefits of humour. The core project is the Clown Doctors, bringing support, fun and laughter to sick children in hospital. Clown Doctors work in partnership with health professionals. While doctors focus on the sickness of the child, Clown Doctors focus on the health. ‘Clown Rounds’ are conducted through all wards, including neonatal, intensive care, burns, oncology and emergency. The whole hospital community benefits – patients, family and staff. The results from having Clown Doctors present is shown when you see a young child more content, a parent who has reduced stress levels and staff enjoying a more relaxed working environment. The Foundation has over 55 professional Clown Doctors who are highly skilled professional performers trained by The Humour Foundation.
