Each night while you are safe and warm in your bed, literally thousands of Australian teenagers will be sleeping rough on the streets. Homelessness is more than just not having a roof over your head. It’s also about the separation from families and communities. It’s about a lack of access to the social and economic tools and opportunities that are so vital to the foundations of adult life.
On any given night 100,000 Australians are homeless. More than one third of homeless people are teenagers and young adults aged 12 to 24 – that’s at least 32,000 homeless young people!
The Oasis Youth Support Network is The Salvation Army’s response to youth homelessness in Australia.
Oasis provides a place of safety and care where, through compassion and skilful intervention, troubled young people find the refuge and hope to achieve their dreams and potential.
Oasis, with more than 25 uplifting and innovative programs and services, gives disadvantaged young people the help and opportunities to access relevant education, training, employment, counselling and drug/alcohol programs and turn their lives around.
