Welcome

Welcome to the 9th Amy’s Share the Road Tour!

We are delighted that you are joining us on this very special and real demonstration of our collective commitment to sharing the roads and making them safer for cyclists and all road users.

The Amy Gillett Foundation is Australia’s leading bike rider safety organisation and has one purpose – to reduce the incidence of death and serious injuries of cyclists. We believe that everyone has the right to ride in safety for work, sport and play.

We are spearheading the effort for consistent mandatory minimum overtaking distance laws across Australia through our signature a metre matters campaign.  With the majority of Australian States and Territories now having a metre matters laws or their equivalent in place, there is momentum for change.

Your participation in the Share the Road Tour contributes vital funds towards our efforts, and embodies a physical demonstration of your personal and corporate commitment to a safer cycling environment.

This year your fundraising efforts will be put towards the following specific measures:

·         Continuing the push for the introduction of a metre matters in Victoria;

·         Investing in research and technology to identify interventions to improve bike rider safety;

·         Implementing evidenced based initiatives to influence public policy and investment consistent with our Manifesto; and

·         Advocating for changes to the testing and training of motorists to improve awareness of cyclists.

Education is a central component of our work - Mary and Denis Safe, Amy’s parents, will be presenting the Remembering Amy For A Reason life skills and road safety program to children in schools as we pass through towns along the way.

The countdown is on, so keep up the hard training in preparation for what will be an epic ride.

Thank you for all that you do to support the Amy Gillett Foundation, and safe cycling.
