Kate's Thrill Seeking Challenge

Story

Welcome to my latest crazy adventure!

I have decided to do something a bit mad and completely out of my comfort zone - all for a very good cause. TAPP is such a unique project that it was just asking for the money to be raised in a creative and unconventional way. It's just so much more fun that way!

I had a think about hosting a girls night in, running a marathon or doing the 40 hour famine (the idea of not cooking for 40 hours was horrifying...). But instead I decided to go out and do something completely unexpected. I am such a big chicken I don't even go on roller coasters (Splash Mountain was nearly my undoing at Disneyland in 2009....) so thrill seeking was my ultimate challenge.

Rather than just have one goal I am upping the stakes depending on how much I can raise. So it works as follows:

$250 to $500 raised - I will take part in a circus class and learn how to be a trapeze artist

$500 to $1000 raised - I throw myself off a cliff and go abseiling

$1000+ raised - Attached to a complete stranger I will launch out of a plane and go sky diving

The thought of all three activities absolutely terrifies me but in a strangely exciting way. I am completely confident of raising at least $250 so now it's up to you to support me and decide whether to send my do-good-thrill-seeking-terrified body off a swing, down a cliff or out of a plane!

The Amazing People Project is a campaign encouraging 250 people, to raise $250,000 over 250 days by doing something ‘amazing’ for themselves whilst doing something ‘amazing’ for others.  You can find out more by watching this video.

You can be amazing by making a donation - click on Donate Now!

To achieve my $1000, I need your help.  You can sponsor me to achieve my Amazing Idea by clicking on Donate Now (right).  All money raised will be distributed evenly amongst five amazing charities.

Our 5 chosen charities are the Starlight Children's Foundation, The Inspire Foundation, youngcare, Cure Cancer Australia and Careflight.  By raising $50,000 for each of these charities we will be making an amazing difference to many people in our community.

Thanks for your interest, and don’t forget you too can join the cause and ‘be amazing’ for yourself, whilst being amazing for others.

The Amazing People Project 2011 Charity Community

There are so many amazing charities in Australia, working to do great things across all areas of our community. Choosing the right charities for The Amazing People Project was in itself quite a challenge! Everyone has a cause dear to their heart and so we tried to choose charities that would cover different categories in our community. We created the criteria that the charity needed to be Australian, able to specify what the money would go towards, be registered for tax deductions so we could receipt our sponsors, and not be primarily government funded. We wanted charities that were doing amazing things for kids, youth, care, cure/research and general community. After several months of research, talking to different charities, these are the 5 ‘amazing’ charities we chose for the 2011 Amazing People Project.
