Exercise Your Bones

Every 8 minutes, a patient suffering an osteoporotic fracture is admitted to an Australian hospital.  By the year 2021, this is expected to rise to every 3-4 minutes with an aging population.

Statistics show that 1 in every 2 women and 1 in every 3 men aged over 60 in Australia suffer an osteoporotic fracture.

One of the key methods to assist in the prevention of osteoporosis in later years is regular physical activity.

My main goal in running the Blackmores Running Festival is to raise money for OA and promote that participation in any type of regular physical activity regardless of age or ability is a beneficial investment in our future.

I welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make and trust that those old sports shoes are back on your feet!

    Osteoporosis Australia

Osteoporosis Australia is a national charity and our vision is healthy bones for all Australians. Our aim is to reduce the prevalence of osteoporosis, and related fractures, in the community. Prevention is the key and calcium, vitamin D and exercise are important factors for maintaining healthy bones throughout life. Your donation will support national awareness, education and medical research programs. Help us build strong bones!
