Running For Our Community
Creator   Peter Walmsley
Close at  Thursday, 3 December 2009

After hours of training, I'm having a crack at the full 42km of the Sydney Marathon on Sunday 20th September. To make it all worthwhile, I want to raise some funds for a worthy local cause.

'Rough Edges' is run by volunteers in conjunction with St.John's Community Services. It offers shelter, support, advice, food & food vouchers to people much less fortunate than ourselves within this city of ours, including the homeless, asylum seekers etc.

We live in a rich, wonderful city, and it is easy to forget that not everyone within it is as fortunate as we are. So please help me to help some others within our community.

Peter

    St John's Community Services Limited

St John's Community Services Limited was established to fund and maintain a number of targeted services for the disadvantaged and marginalized in the Darlinghurst and Kings Cross area. Including:

Rough Edges Cafe - a place for the street community to have a coffee, enjoy a free meal and spend time together in a safe and welcoming environment

St Johns Legal Centre - volunteer solicitors assist those needing help with free legal services and referrals.

Community Assistance and Partnership Program (CAPP) - hospitality and practical assistance is provided by social workers for those seeking to exit the cycle of poverty.
