The social event of the year is back! The 2009 Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Winter Solistce Ball is on at 7pm on Saturday June 27th at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney's CBD.
This annual black-tie event, started in 2003, is organised by young people for young people who want to spend a night helping the world's poorest people - refugees and asylum seekers - whilst having a good time. Money raised from the night supports our domestic and international projects.
In 2009 we are continuing fund the asylum seekers homeless shelter in Sydney’s Kings Cross – created from the JRS Ball – and our international project this year is providing training for refugee teachers in southern Sudan.
The 2009 JRS Ball is jam-packed with entertainment including a live band, live auction, keynote speaker Kir Deng and a special surprise! Your ticket - costing $150 - will includes a three course meal, all drinks, entry to after-party and a priceless night out. Previous Guest's of Honour include Former Governor-General Sir William Deane, Former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Ellen Hansen, film maker Khoa Do, 2004 Young Australian of the Year Hugh Evans and Humanitarian Jeff McMullen. Ben Fordham from Channel 9 is our Master of Ceremonies this year.
