    The PixiFoto Foundation

Every minute, somewhere in the world a child goes blind. Most of these children live in developing countries, such as Zambia where even the most basic health services are not available. The situation is often made worse by poor or inadequate water supplies, poor housing and poor education.

Yet simple and low cost interventions, such as teaching basic hygiene, vitamin supplements, screening children for commonly occurring eye diseases and providing clean water wells, will not only save sight, but will save lives.

With approximately eighty per cent of this blindness being preventable, these actions alone can save thousands of children in these countries from blindness or seriously reduced vision.
