Fundraising techniques, will allow you to spread awareness and raising dollars at the same time.

"Imagination and planning are the key factors to a successful fundraising campaign" AK

Fundraising Techniques:

1.How to use the technology:
2.What more I can do?
3.How your workplace can get involved:
4.How your family and friends can assist you:

1.How to use the technology:

a. Write a newsletter every week you are in training:
A newsletter is a good way to keep your friends, family and colleagues involved in what you are doing for charity:

Sections you can include in your newsletters are as follows:
*Photos;
*What I did this week;
*Current fundraising total and fundraising target;
*The link to your fundraising page;
*Details of fundraising events;
*Facts about your charity;
  Remember you are not only fundraising you are also spreading awareness.
*Thank you section, letting your donors know how much their contributions matter.;

Request those who receive the email to send it on to others that might like to read about what you are up to and support you.
If the charity you have chosen is tax deductable, remind your potential sponsors that this is the case. Don't forget the final newsletter, to thank everyone and to let them know how you went.

b. Email Reminders:
Request those who receive the email to send it on to others that might like to read about what you are up to and support you. If the charity you have chosen is tax deductable, remind your potential sponsors that this is the case. Remember, to thank everyone in the finals newsletter and to let them know how you went.

c. Update your page:
Update your page on a regular basis, this will allow your sponsors to go the distance with you fundraising page. You can do this by changing your photo and editing your personal message on a weekly basis.

d. Email signature:
Add the link of your fundraising page to your email signature. So others can learn about your fundraising drive.

2.What more I can do?

You can self sacrifices by shaving your head or you can be a little more strategic.

Things that you can do which will generate community support:

a. Local/Community Newspaper- Write to your local newspaper in the form of a press release:
Remember journalists like to take exerts, it is better to write in third person. Tell your story, why you wanted to get involved, what you are in training for. Just remember to put the link in so you can receive donations!

b. Flyer:
You can use the same information, as you have used for the newsletter and simply print and stick. Shave your head: This is a good way to get your friends and colleagues to help you reach your goal. You could say if I get to $2000 then I will shave my head!

c. Donations instead of birthday Gifts:
This is a great one, and it is very easy to do. On your invitation just simply state, no presents please donate to and add your GoFundraise URL.

d. Tax Time or pay day:
 Send the link out to friends, family and colleagues for sponsorship around tax time or if you know when they get paid email them on this day. It is usually the first and fourteenth day of every month.
