Conservation Volunteers has grown to become the largest practical conservation organisation in Australasia with branches across Australia and New Zealand.
Each year Conservation Volunteers completes more than 2000 conservation projects lasting from one day to many months, resulting in positive environmental outcomes, increased community participation, valuable conservation skills and awareness. From Uluru to the rainforests of tropical north Queensland and the world heritage areas in Tasmania, Conservation Volunteers has been undertaking vital practical conservation projects since 1982. Since then we have planted more than 14 million trees and currently manage over 12,000 volunteers annually. Through partnerships with various types of landholders, we assist in urban, regional and remote projects including tree planting; seed collection; endangered species protection; weed control; flora and fauna surveys; walking track construction; fencing and environmental monitoring. In the 2009/210 financial year, Conservation Volunteers planted close to 577,000 trees, maintained over 295,000 metres of walking track and collected over 100,000 kgs of rubbish.
Support like yours will mean that more vital work like this is carried out and ultimately, more practical steps are taken to conserve our environment. Every dollar raised thanks to GoFundraise means that we can plant more native trees – thus creating more important native habitats and ultimately assisting forest rejuvenation.
