Peter Mac is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer, and is the home of Australia’s largest cancer research group.

Our researchers are embedded in the hospital, so they ride in the lifts with patients and their loved ones – this is an incredible driver. Our team of 700 researchers are passionate and determined to make new breakthroughs and discover kinder treatments, as quickly as possible, so that every person with cancer has the best chance of a cure.

Peter Mac’s commitment to research is based on the belief that treatment informed by research, and research informed by treatment, is the key to progressing better cancer care. Working within the hospital environment means our researchers are uniquely placed to translate research discoveries as quickly as possible into real treatments for cancer patients.

Peter Mac is internationally recognised for its leading role in accelerating the search for cancer cures. However, we rely on donations to make this critical work possible. While our researchers have great success in securing competitive project grants, these grants rarely fund new innovative projects or the state-of-the-art technologies and resources needed to undertake these research projects. We need your support to help give some of the brightest minds in cancer research the specialised technologies they need to make important new breakthroughs – breakthroughs that will save lives.
