2020 – Wow, what a year for the history books. Truly a year full of ups, downs, and more changes than we could have thought possible. I spoke to Toni Watson (Co-Founder/Vice President) and Jennifer Thomas (Fundraising and Event Coordinator) from Bears of Hope about how they quickly adapted their 2020 Choosing Hope campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like most events in 2020, the Firies Climb for MND is a bit different this year. For the last 5 years, the Firies Climb was a challenge exclusively for firefighters (to climb the 1,504 steps of Sydney Tower Eye wearing over 20kg of firefighting gear) but this year, they’ve gone virtual and anyone can participate in an innovative way.
We are extremely excited to introduce the newest member of our team, David Holmes. We are very fortunate to be in a position where we’ve been able to expand our team during such a challenging year. David brings a wealth of experience to the team and is looking forward to helping our charities and events raise more this year.
We know that there are a lot of people who can’t be with their Mums, Grandmothers or other mother-figures on Mother’s Day this year – so we have created a way you can let her know that you’re thinking of her.
This year, we’ve created virtual bouquets that you can send to Mum with a donation to her favourite charity. You can also dedicate a virtual bouquet in memory of a loved one. All Australian organisations on the GoFundraise platform have been added to this campaign.
Firstly, we hope that you’re safe and healthy during this difficult time. We know that there are lots of people struggling around the world due to the effects of COVID-19.
For those of you who are able, we wanted to let you know of some ways that you can help. Most charities have been directly impacted and could use your support in this time. Here are some campaigns that you might like to support.
There are so many causes with increased need during COVID-19: such as mental health crisis and support services, domestic violence shelters, medical research institutions and various causes that look after our most vulnerable people. Choose from over 2,000 charities on the platform and fundraise for them in whatever way you like.
The Bowral Classic is an exciting third-party fundraising event where cyclists of all different levels get to ride through the rolling hills of the Southern Highlands and fundraise for a charity of their choice.
We are very excited to announce the release of the ‘Do More than Remember’ campaign for Legacy Brisbane. GoFundraise worked with the Legacy Brisbane team on this innovative campaign which allows people to dedicate a virtual poppy with their donation.
GoFundraise was privileged to help turn Legacy Brisbane’s idea into a digital reality.
“I LOVE these new metrics!
Being able to see these topline numbers instantly will be so helpful during our Melanoma March campaign and allow me to spend less time running reports and more time implementing strategies to grow our fundraising”
Annabel Egan, Campaign Manager: Melanoma March, Melanoma Institute Australia
We are very excited to introduce you to our new Account Manager, Priscilla Leong. Priscilla joins us with over 10 years fundraising experience, most recently from Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF).
